Job Summary
The Mammography Technologist performs high-quality mammography procedures and assists radiologists with specialized procedures to support the diagnosis and early detection of breast abnormalities.
Education
Licenses and Certifications
ARRT (M) required
Current BCLS certification
OR ARRT (R) must obtain ARRT (M) within 1 year of orientation
TDH (Texas Department of Health) license
Experience & Skills
1 year of experience preferred (new graduates considered based on department needs)
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Effective organizational and time management abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
Bilingual skills a plus
Maintains confidentiality of patient information
Strong public interaction skills; ability to remain calm and tactful
Primary Responsibilities
1. Patient Care & Clinical Duties
Verifies patient identity and procedure details
Ensures informed consent is obtained when needed
Explains procedures to patients
Collaborates with radiologists and staff for optimal care
2. Administrative & Clerical Tasks
Manages patient throughput and workflow
Volunteers for additional duties as needed
Adjusts to schedule changes
3. Imaging Support & Quality Assurance
Maintains and checks mammography equipment
Stocks and manages inventory
Inputs accurate procedure data into PACS and HIS/RIS
Follows ACR and MQSA quality standards
4. Safety & Infection Control
Uses radiation safety practices and monitors exposure
Follows infection control procedures
Cleans equipment and workspaces regularly
Adheres to workplace safety protocols
5. Training & Development
Assists in orienting new staff
Supports clinical education for students
Participates in performance improvement initiatives
Shares knowledge and promotes team development
