Software Engineer (Full-Stack Back-End Leaning)
Company Overview
We are a rapidly growing technology startup in the HealthTech sector serving as a critical administrative partner for new healthcare insurance companies. Our proprietary platform manages the complex administrative and operational back-office functions required to launch and scale health plans.
Following a successful recent funding round and a period of 20x customer growth driven by business seasonality we are rapidly expanding our core engineering and operations teams. We value mission-driven builders who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are excited by the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare administration.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our small high-impact team. This is a role for a proven builder not just a task-taker. You will be responsible for owning projects end-to-end acting as your own product manager to define specifications and deliver robust features daily.
This role requires a full-stack skillset with a strong emphasis on back-end development and infrastructure work as much of our current focus involves building out core administrative capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Ownership: Independently scope design and implement features across our core platform from defining technical specifications to deployment.
- Feature Development: Write clean efficient and well-tested code for both front-end and back-end systems with a focus on core infrastructure and data processing.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the operations team and leadership to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to architectural decisions and improve engineering best practices within a high-growth environment.
Candidate Qualifications
Required Experience
- Experience: 25 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Independence: Proven ability to take a high-level scope and manage a project independently through design build and launch.
- Technical Stack: Full-stack engineer comfortable with a back-end leaning focus; solid understanding of infrastructure is essential.
- Industry Preference: Experience working at a fast-growing startup preferably in the HealthTech InsurTech or FinTech spaces.
Cultural Fit & Values
- Mission-Driven: Highly interested in applying technology to solve complex problems in healthcare and making a tangible impact.
- Stability: A stable job history (e.g. spending 3 years in previous roles) is strongly preferred.
- Equity Mindset: Highly motivated by the opportunity for significant equity upside in an early-stage company not solely salary-focused.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: Competitive
- Equity: Significant equity compensation package with a target range of 0.1% to 1.0% depending on experience level.
- Work Model: Four days a week in-office in San Francisco (One flex remote day).
- Visa Sponsorship: We are not currently able to sponsor visas.
