About us

Augmented Energy is on the mission to offer turn-key solutions to energy players enabling them to transition towards a decarbonised electricity mix and ultimately offer greener energy services. We are developing software solutions to integrate and manage all types of intermittent and flexible assets within our customers existing operations (onsite renewable generation behind-the-meter batteries charging stations) to improve their electricity carbon footprint as well as their revenues.

We are a young company with a team of experienced founders and we are growing strongly; we have landed several contracts at the forefront of energy innovation in France. We are looking for talents to tackle the challenges of todays energy transition!

Tasks

About the role

As we experience an increased demand for our energy management solutions our team is entering into the next stage of our growth scaling up our operations to thousands of concurrent processing tasks across grid data market data consumption and production data.

You will be amongst our first employees and shape the company and its vision from the ground up. Working closely with one of the 3 founders and a team of experienced technologists (5 as of today but growing) you will be:

• Key in architecting and building our platform backend (data model business domain and application interfaces)
• Instrumental in scaling up event-driven and real time systems
• Crafting a highly reliable production platform with metrics tracing and logging
• Developing the company culture around automated test suites and CI/CD pipelines
• Advocating for good code quality assurance and eliminating early technology debt
• Guiding other software engineers in best practices overseeing code reviews as well as collaborating with our data scientists to ensure that our platform delivers the most accurate data

Requirements

About you

Were looking for a seasoned backend engineer with strong application and cloud engineering skills. Youll help us build highly scalable APIs and backend systems powered by state-of-the-art energy analytics.

• 10 years track record as a software engineer designing and scaling up distributed applications
• Exemplary Python coding abilities - Thrive for difficult programming challenges. Can speak clearly about their thinking throughout these challenges. Has excellent knowledge of common python idioms and libraries.
• High scalability experience - Has been a tech leader on scaling systems to thousands of requests / events per day. Has experience with hyper-observability scaling algorithms and using production data to drive system changes
• Startup-type experience - Has worked at a startup or high growth company
• Collaboration-first mentality with a willingness to teach as well as learn from others

We mostly care about your ability to deliver great work so we do not expect you to be an expert in the specific technologies we use though were enthusiastic Pythonistas!
