Renowned for its commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centric care our client operates a vast national network of facilities. This is a unique opportunity to join a team where technology directly supports and enables life-saving services.
This is not a maintenance role. The core challenge is to evolve the companys network from a functional utility into a strategic resilient and secure platform capable of supporting the future of healthcare. You will be the senior technical authority responsible for architecting the network backbone that underpins next-generation clinical applications telemedicine capabilities and data-driven patient care. Your impact will be measured by your ability to create a network infrastructure that is as robust and reliable as the clinical care the organization provides.
Performance Objectives for Year One
- Strategic Roadmap Delivery: Within the first 12 months conduct a comprehensive audit of the current network architecture and deliver an executive-approved 3-5 year technology roadmap. This strategic plan will define the future state of the enterprise network focusing on enhancing scalability security and resilience to support critical business and clinical initiatives.
- Network Modernization Leadership: Lead the evaluation selection and proof-of-concept (POC) for a key network modernization project (e.g. SD-WAN cloud networking or security infrastructure upgrade). By the end of year one this POC must demonstrate measurable improvements in performance cost-effectiveness or security forming the business case for a wider rollout.
- Establish Technical Governance: Within the first 6 months develop document and embed a clear set of network architecture standards principles and best practices for the technology division. You will act as the senior-most technical authority providing mentorship and architectural consulting to network engineering teams to elevate the quality of design and implementation across all projects.
- Security Posture Enhancement: In collaboration with the cybersecurity team architect and document a refined network security framework within the first 9 months. This involves redesigning key network segments and firewall policies to significantly reduce the organizations attack surface and ensure robust compliance with healthcare data privacy laws and practices.
Profile for Success
The ideal candidate will have a history of achieving similar objectives. We are looking for demonstrated evidence of:
- Architecting and delivering a multi-year network technology roadmap for a large complex enterprise environment.
- A proven track record of leading the end-to-end process of technology evaluation vendor negotiation and proof-of-concept projects for solutions like SD-WAN or cloud-native networking.
- Experience establishing technical governance creating architectural standards and acting as a senior mentor to engineering teams.
- In-depth hands-on experience designing and implementing network security architecture including multi-vendor firewall environments (Fortinet preferred) and segmentation strategies.
- Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelors degree (NQF Level 7) in a relevant field like Computer Science or Information Systems.
- 10 years of experience designing and managing enterprise-wide LANs WANs WLANs and virtual networks.
- At least one of the following certifications: CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure CCDE CCNP Enterprise CCNA CMSS or Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700).
