Contract:Part-time/Full-time initially fixed-term for 2 years followed by the option of a subsequent employment contract with an infinite duration
Our Leipzig International Kindergarten opened in June 2014 provides over 270 children aged 1 to 6 with a full-day year-round early education programme which aims at supporting each childs personal social academic physical and emotional development in an international setting.
Your tasks and responsibilities
As a Subject Specialist in Music with a background in Early Childhood Education this role combines two key responsibilities: delivering engaging music education and providing flexible pedagogical support as a Floater. The music component focuses on teaching learners aged 12 months to 7 years through play-based expressive activities that foster musical awareness and creativity. The specialist leads daily sessions organizes house-wide music events collaborates with educators and maintains the music environment. Outside of music class times the educator joins the groups as a Floater promoting exploration curiosity and independence in line with the Saxon Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage. This includes active participation in play observation and assessment collaboration with colleagues and parents and contributing to the overall quality of care and learning at Leipzig International School Kindergarten.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Teaching Music to Learners aged 12 months to 7 years- Lead Nursery and Early Years groups in weekly music activity sessions focused on supporting and promoting their music awareness
- Plan lessons create activities that are play-based promote childrens self-expression track development and foster the childrens love of music pursuits
- Organise whole house music events in collaboration with colleagues children and parents
- Take responsibility for the music room and music equipment
- Share development and updates with parents through digital platforms and reports
Providing Care as a Floater- Collaborate with partners and team members to deliver a strong programme based on playing and exploring inquiring active learning and critical thinking
- Develop age-appropriate child-focused and unit-based engagements based on the guidelines ethos and objectives provided by Saxonys State Curriculum for Kindergarten (Sächsischer Bildungsplan) and the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Look for opportunities to promote development that fosters the childrens love of learning curiosity creativity and independence
- Provide stimulating and empowering environments for children to discover and explore
- Observe support guide and participate in childrens play
- Communicate with parents and colleagues about children in your care
- Use assessment tools for development and learning in order to focus on childrens progress and plan their next steps
- Work with a team of colleagues to continuously improve the overall quality of care education and learning at Leipzig International School Kindergarten
- Support the children with life skills including dressing toileting and independent eating
- Participate in weekly and monthly planning meetings and other professional development opportunities
Your profile
Required Qualifications & Skills
- A qualification in Early Childhood Education Social Work Social Pedagogy Vocational Training as State Approved Educator or a related degree in accordance with the qualification ordinance of the state of Saxony
- Demonstrated experience in Early Years education particularly with children aged 17 years
- Strong musical skills and the ability to lead engaging developmentally appropriate music sessions for young children
- Experience designing and implementing play-based child-centered learning experiences
- Ability to observe assess and document childrens learning and development effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working collaboratively with children colleagues and families
- A caring flexible and team-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to different group settings as a Floater
- Competence in maintaining a safe stimulating and inclusive learning environment
- Basic proficiency with digital tools for documentation and parent communication (e.g. Seesaw)
- Fluency in written and verbal English or German with basic understanding in the other
- International and growth mindsets
