Whether we are briefing press on inspiring travel trends highlighting unique experiences led by local hosts or explaining how travel on our platform benefits local families and communities we are the voice of Airbnb on a broad range of topics.

As Corporate and Policy Communications Manager for Spain and Portugal you will be at the heart of shaping Airbnbs voice in two of our most dynamic markets. This is a high-impact role where youll craft and drive narratives at the crossroads of travel technology and public policy.
You will lead conversations that influence how Airbnb is understood by media policymakers hosts and guests - from showcasing our community and economic impact to navigating complex policy and regulatory landscapes. - Policy Communications: Advise corporate and policy team members across functions in Spain and Portugal and support the Comms Lead and the policy Managers on communications strategies for key policy initiatives litigation and regulatory updates.
- Corporate Communications: Align with Global and central communications teams and partner with Spain and Portugal local team members to ensure all corporate communications initiatives are seamlessly executed locally.
- Proactive Campaigns: Drive relevant initiatives by working with cross-functional teams and external partners. Develop and pitch compelling content including data reports and op-eds to advance our corporate and policy goals.
- Content Creation: Draft and edit a wide range of written materials including press releases messaging guidelines Q&As briefing documents and speeches. Ensure these materials are aligned with global narratives while resonating locally.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal teams such as Legal Policy Marketing and BizOps. Provide regular updates and reporting to local and regional stakeholders.
A typical day:
- Youll work on drafting a briefing document for a local executives upcoming interview with a national media outlet. Youll also field a call from a local team needing urgent support on a reactive policy issue providing guidance on messaging and next steps.
- Youll collaborate with the Policy and Legal teams to review a new comms strategy for a regulatory challenge. You might also connect with the editorial task force to pitch new story ideas and data-led narratives.
- Youll engage with an external agency to provide data and insights regarding a pan study about the positivity impact of Airbnb community across a city or a region.
- As an owner of media relations youll supervise all reactive press requests and ensure the utilization of all available tools (data industry research host stories etc.) to defend Airbnbs community and brand.
- Youll join a meeting to coordinate an upcoming policy initiative that involve partnering with external associations political figures or third party organizations.
- Youll be asked to develop plans that involve engaging with content creators opinion leaders and industry experts.
- You will be ask to develop and prepare written materials (story pitches messaging guidelines Q&As briefs presentations speeches etc.) and manage the approval process with the Regional Lead.
Your expertise:
- Experience: 5 years of experience in communications or public affairs with a proven track record in corporate and policy communications. Experience working in-house or at a PR agency particularly within the technology travel or sharing economy sectors is highly desirable.
- Expertise: Understanding of the public policy landscape in Spain and its impact on the tech and travel industries. Experience in working on regulatory and political matters would be a plus. Ability to manage and advise on complex issues including crisis trust and regulatory matters.
- Skills: Exceptional writing editing and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Qualities: Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced matrix organization. A problem-solver who can maintain a calm and enthusiastic demeanor in stressful situations.
- Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English is essential. Proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
