About the Department
Lakewood Health Systems EMS department is continuously growing and takes pride in its innovative forward-thinking approach while maintaining the values and patient-focused care for which Lakewood is known. Our primary service area (PSA) spans approximately 490 square miles covering parts of Cass Morrison Todd and Wadena counties. Staffed by EMTs and paramedics the EMS team provides basic and advanced life support as well as critical care transport services. With an annual call volume exceeding 1300 requests the EMS team operates under the medical direction of Lakewoods Emergency Department and collaborates closely with various teams both within and outside of Lakewood.
Mission for Position
Lakewood Health System is seeking a dedicated and skilled paramedic to join its EMS team providing both emergent and non-emergent care to patients in and outside of the hospital. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) as well as facilitating inter-facility transfers alongside EMTs and other EMS professionals. EMTs at Lakewood are trained and varianced in multiple areas including IV and IO insertion administration of various medications 12-lead EKG placement and iGel airway management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide immediate and effective medical care in emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Conduct patient assessments including vital signs and medical histories to determine the appropriate course of action.
- Participate in critical care transport and inter-facility transfers ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients.
- Collaborate with the rapid response team to effectively manage emergencies throughout the hospital.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records documenting assessments treatments and outcomes.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in emergency medical care.
- Opportunities to engage in various organizational groups and committees to contribute to continuous improvement in patient care and operational efficiency.
Position Type
Hiring for two EMT positions:
- Full-Time (0.8 FTE): 64 hours/14-hour shifts per pay period with hourly pay.
- Part-Time (0.7FTE): 56 hours/14-hour shifts per pay period with hourly pay.
Every other weekend and some holidays call rotation.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Current certification as an EMT and CPR certification.
- High school graduate / GED
- Valid state drivers license and insurability.
- Strong knowledge of emergency medical protocols and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a team-oriented environment.
