The City of Oxnards Public Works Department Parks Division and Housing Department are seeking Landscape Maintenance Technicians to join their Team. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude strong work ethic and a passion for serving their community as a team player.

Receives close supervision and specific direction regarding assignments and deadlines.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This classification is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker in that it provides semi-skilled or skilled general maintenance work.
WORK SCHEDULE (HOUSING): The normal work week is on a 9/80 schedule; 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday with alternating Fridays off. Depending on the work assignment staff may be assigned to a shift that is outside the standard work hours including addition this position may be required to be available to work additional hours in response to peaks in workloads and changes in department needs. This position is governed by overtime provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.

Performs semi-skilled or skilled general maintenance and operations work in support of City departments or maintenance function; selects proper maintenance tools supplies and equipment for assignment; performs work following established safety policies and procedures.
Operates and maintains assigned equipment tools and supplies; performs basic inspections to ensure safe operating conditions; cleans and performs preventative maintenance; and monitors need for replacement or advanced repair/maintenance work.
Plans monitors and reviews inventory and supply needs; places orders or requests based on requirements.
Maintains activity logs records work orders and related reports.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE:
Positions assigned togrounds maintenancemay be responsible for:
Keeping grounds at city owned facilities street landscapes and parks including irrigation maintenance;
Removing litter;
Performing weed abatement;
Inspecting grounds;
Applying chemicals and pesticides;
Purchasing supplies

NOTE:For most positions the City of Oxnard relies on office automation (Microsoft Office/Google) and web-based enabled tools therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
Regular and reliable attendance effective communication skills and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all positions.
Employees are required to participate in the Citys direct deposit plan and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
This position requires a 12 month probationary period.
