The Costume Coordinator is responsible for the planning and execution of all phases of costumeandcostume craft construction alteration fittings and procurement for all SCGSAH productions and projects ensuring cohesive efficient and professional costume support across all artistic disciplines. This includes overseeing thedailyoperations of the costume shop ensuringtimelycompletion of high-quality costume elements and managing wardrobe activities during performances across all applicable departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS&MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Director of Production and Production Manager the Costume Coordinator is responsible for the efficient operation of the costume shop including:
- Oversee and maintaindailyoperations of the Drama and Dance costume shops while keeping informed about industry standards new techniques and products.
- Maintain costume inventories and shops including inventory records costume cleaning repair work shoe inventorycostumeshop supplies equipment and shops SDS.
- Advise Production Manager with purchasing needs for shows and restocking adhering to the budget setbythe Director of Production and advise onanychanges to budgets if necessary. Costume Coordinator will track purchases per show for record keeping.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for costumedesigners artisticdirectors and artistic faculty for all costuming communication including attending production meetings.
- Advise Director of Production and Production Manager in the hiring process for additional costume stitchers and designers as needed.
- Oversees patterning cutting and construction of costumes from beginning to end.
- Supervise workflow from Designers to stitchers and other shop assistants by providing detailed instructions and delegating tasks.
- Must be willing to train stitchers and shop assistants as needed.
- Must be willing to work with students who have proven costuming skills to approved faculty who are looking for additional credit hours.
- Schedule and supervise all fittings in coordination with the students and other staff.
- In conjunction with Production Manager schedule work calls pertaining to costuming.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for costume rental contracts and shipping as well as the cleaning and return of all rental costumes in a timely manner. Ensure associated rental fees have been charged and damages documented.
- The Costume Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of costuming during a show run for any department including:
- Establishes costume guidelines for performers in the theater or other space.
- Pack and prepare costumes for transport to and from performance venues.
- Oversee dressing rooms for performances and supervise dresser staff.
- Maintain costumes during a show run by coordinating performing any washing or needed repairs.
- Perform alterations and tailoring on dance drama film and music performance or rehearsal wear as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and experience or additional education in the production of television programs
and/or theatrical productions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Required skills include experience coordinating or managing a costume shop experience constructing dance costumes and working with stretch fabrics experience working with industrial machines and experience in the safe handling of materials used in the costume craft production process.
- Desired skills include dying distressing and fabric painting beadwork millinery and sewing machine maintenance.
