About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician to join our Engineering Team at Leicestershire County Council one of the best performing councils in the country. The successful applicant will join a motivated friendly team of professionals committed to delivering public sector road maintenance and highway improvements that offer best value for money whilst simultaneously pushing the boundaries of innovation and carbon savings in construction. Our team has a track record of incorporating recycled materials and innovative construction techniques to reduce costs and our impact on the environment. You will report into Senior Technicians and assist them to support the design and delivery of Highway construction schemes and maintenance works within time and cost targets.

About us
Our Engineering Services team has a track record of incorporating recycled materials and innovative construction techniques to reduce costs and our impact on the environment. They are responsible for the efficient design planning and project management of multiple Highway construction schemes and maintenance works to achieve delivery within time and cost targets ensuring compliance with specifications and quality management systems.
About You
To apply for this post you must hold or have:
- NVQ3 or equivalent in Civil Engineering or other relevant subjects. A-Levels Grades A-C in Maths and English
OR demonstrable evidence of the skills and experience as outlined in the job specification together with a commitment to attain the essential qualifications. - Experience of working in an engineering setting including design management maintenance or administrative processes in relation to highways infrastructure.
- It would be ideal but not essential if you have experience of working in a commercial environment and delivering projects and programmes to time quality and cost.
- Experience of liaising with customers and clients using a variety of methods including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions and of problem investigation and assessment.
- Experience of accurately capturing storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational and needs.
- Experience of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice or drawings and to interpret maps plans and engineering drawings.
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and good IT skills including the ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software.
You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.
