Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Working closely and in direct collaboration with the respective teachers to provide counseling and behavior management to increase academic success.
- Provide social skills training for students in classrooms.
- Assist in crises either with CPI and/or referrals to mental health agencies for screening.
- Assists the teacher in conducting behavior analyses.
- Develop and update Behavior Support Plans.
- Assist in completion of a determination of a Propensity for Violence Risk Analyses for students.
- Assist in the transition of students entering or transitioning out of the programs.
- Works closely with Swanson Center to ensure appropriate individual and family counseling for each student.
- Provides a bridge for the families to partner with the programs for the success of the respective child.
- Submit Medicaid reimbursement for students counseled on a monthly basis.
- Actively seeks parent permission for placements Medicaid and other important matters.
- Assist in the writing of individualized education programs as it relates to mental health supports.
- Uses evidence-based practices as they relate to behavior management setting a strong consistent routine and character building.
- The Social Worker may be called upon to conduct or assist in non-violent physical restraint.
- Performs Medicaid reimbursement.
- Able to coach and model social skills for teachers and students.
- Coordinate all social services for families within assignment and assist in wrapping services around the student.
- Other duties asassigned.
Education and Experience
- Master of Social Work degree
- License in Social Work
- A valid license issued by the Indiana Department of Education endorsed as a School Social Worker
- Experience in handling crises including referrals to mental health agencies
