Job Description

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for accurately processing vendor invoices ensuring timely payments and maintaining proper documentation in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting the finance teams overall efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify invoices and payment requests for accuracy and proper authorization.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts.
  • Enter and process invoices in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized records of all AP transactions.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and communicate payment status.
  • Assist with month-end closing and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with 2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with 3-way matching and invoice approval workflows.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Great Plains SAP or Oracle.
  • Tourism industry experience.
