Cabling Technician will build the infrastructure of all telecom networks such as Local Area Networks (LANs) Wide Area Networks (WANs) and Cable TV (CATV). As the functions are very technical applicants must be eager to acquire new skills adapt to industry changes and continuously improve knowledge of the trade to ensure ongoing success and growth in the role. Known also as Networking Cable Installers they must install troubleshoot and maintain video and data cables and copper and fiber cabling infrastructure as per the standards of the organizations where they work.
Applicants must reside or be willing to relocate to the San Antonio Texas area.
Network installation:Installing network cables is a crucial part of a cabling technicians job. They need to know how to install network jacks patch panels and other hardware. This includes knowing how to read and interpret diagrams and schematics to ensure the proper installation of the network.
Cable management:Cable management is the ability to organize and store cables in a way that ensures they dont interfere with the operation of a computer or other device. This includes knowing how to coil and tape cables as well as how to route them through walls and other obstacles. Cable management is an important part of ensuring the safety of the people who use the network.
Communication:Communication skills are necessary for networking and working with other technicians. They also help you to convey information to clients and managers. Effective communication skills can help you to collaborate with others to solve problems and find solutions.
Problem-solving:Problem-solving skills allow you to identify issues develop solutions and implement them. As a cabling technician you may be responsible for diagnosing and repairing network issues. Your ability to identify the source of the problem and develop a solution can help you save time and money.
Electrical knowledge: Electrical knowledge is the ability to understand how electrical systems work. This includes knowledge of electrical components how they function and how to troubleshoot them. Electrical knowledge is important for network cabling technicians because they need to understand how to properly install and maintain the networks electrical system.
