Our team of specialist pathologists scientists technicians phlebotomists couriers and shared services personnel deliver a world-class service that together collects analyses and reports over 7 million patient results annually.
About the role Mō te tūranga
Our Wairarapa Laboratory is currently looking for dedicated enthusiastic and competent Technical Specialist. It is a permanent full-time position of 80 hours per fortnight based at our Masterton Laboratory and includes participation in a 24/7 rotating roster.
You will work in partnership with the Laboratory Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the technical area and perform pathology tests across all disciplines. The Technical Specialist will provide technical and scientific direction to scientists technicians and trainees to develop a cohesive team and maintain a commitment to providing a high-quality service.
About you He kōrero mōu
To be successful in this role you need to have:
- At least 2 years experience in a New Zealand Blood Bank.
- Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
- Strong communication facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to coach and mentor others.
- Sound knowledge of laboratory operations including safety quality assurance processes equipment operation and hands-on practical experience.
- Ability to work methodically while adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
- Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering high-quality service to internal and external customers supported by effective interpersonal skills.
- Must be a team player with initiative strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to participate in a 24/7 roster.
- Experience as a Scientist working in a Core Laboratory isdesirable.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
