Fixed Term Contract / Secondment (12 Months FTC)

Grade

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Practice Management Officer to join our dynamic Practice Management Team within Birmingham City Councils Legal and Governance Department. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a team of over 130 legal professionals ensuring they have the tools systems and support they need to deliver high-quality legal services across the city.

What Youll Be Doing

As a Practice Management Officer you will:

  • Provide essential administrative and operational support across finance and IT functions
  • Manage financial transactions including invoice processing procurement and client billing
  • Support ICT needs including equipment procurement system access and troubleshooting
  • Coordinate and contribute to internal projects including system upgrades process improvements and service delivery initiatives
  • Track project milestones maintain documentation and liaise with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes
  • Maintain and update performance reports central records and data dashboards
  • Assist with logistics such as travel arrangements meeting coordination and office supplies
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and health & safety standards

What Were Looking For

  • 12 years experience in office/practice management IT support or a similar role
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with a proactive and results-driven approach
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence working with data and reports
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced high-pressure environment

Experience in a professional services setting or with financial/ICT systems is desirable but we also encourage applications from candidates with transferable skills from technical support or case management backgrounds.
