About the Company:

Our client is an early-stage well-funded fintech startup focused on building modern financial operating systems for small and mid-sized businesses. Their mission is to close the technology gap between SMBs and large enterprises by automating workflows providing real-time financial insights and streamlining operations.

Founded in 2022 and backed by top investors they are assembling a founding engineering team to help scale a next-generation financial platform. This is an opportunity to shape both the product and engineering culture at a company set to transform how millions of business owners operate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build full-stack products using JavaScript/TypeScript Express and GCP.
  • Architect SQL schemas and scalable infrastructure to support product growth.
  • Work closely with product and customer-facing teams to define technical requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Solve challenging backend problems while contributing to the frontend as needed.
  • Take ownership as a foundational engineering team member helping shape best practices and company culture.

What Were Looking For:

  • 2 to 15 years of full-stack engineering experience.
  • Strong CS fundamentals (degree in Computer Science or related preferred).
  • Proven ability to architect and deliver end-to-end systems.
  • Expertise in JavaScript TypeScript Express GCP.
  • Experience designing and optimizing SQL database schemas.
  • Track record of thriving in early-stage startup environments (founding or hypergrowth experience highly valued).
  • Demonstrated high ownership mindset and ability to operate autonomously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a founding engineer or startup technical leader.
  • Background in fintech or financial systems.
  • History of rapid promotion into senior or staff roles.

Interview Process

  • Introductory call with leadership (mission & fit).
  • Technical deep dive (system design coding).
  • Team interviews with engineering.
  • Final discussion before offer stage.

Compensation:

  • Senior Engineer: $170000 $210000 base equity
  • Staff Engineer: $220000 $315000 base equity

  • Graduates from Coding Bootcamps (e.g. Full Stack Academy Hack Reactor).
  • Consulting Backgrounds (Experience at IT software development firms instead of actual product companies).
