ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Education Officer Early Learning based in Hobsonville Auckland. This is a full-time fixed-term position (40 hours per week Monday to Friday).

Our Education Officer Early Learning will be a passionate and innovative early childhood educator whos passionate about inspiring the younger generation and advancing animal welfare.

In this unique and varied role youll help coordinate and support SPCAs national education initiatives. Youll promote our education programme develop curriculum aligned education resources and help build strong connections with early learning educators and key education sector stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on the future of animal welfare in New Zealand through education.

ABOUT YOU

You thrive in a customer centric environment take pride in providing an education programme for teachers and young learners. You have sound pedagogical knowledge and experience teaching within early learning settings.

You are comfortable working with others and are eager to be a member of a team that conceptualises and champions the development of curriculum aligned animal welfare teaching and learning resources for New Zealand ECE centres primary and intermediate schools.

Our ideal Candidate will have:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Education Teaching or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • In-depth understanding of Te Whāriki.
  • Thorough practical and theoretical knowledge of teaching and learning in New Zealand early learning settings.
  • An understanding of animal welfare.
  • Knowledge and experience of Tikanga Māori mātauranga Māori and Te Ao Māori (not essential but it would be an advantage).
  • Knowledge and understanding of te Reo Māori (not essential but it would be an advantage).
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative when required.
  • Creativity and innovation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Competence in administration computer skills and the use of digital technology.
