Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Conwy to assist with the appointment of a Road Worker on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 14.36- 18.28 per hour

Summary:

The Road Worker is a hands-on role responsible for the general maintenance repair and safety of County roads highways and public infrastructure within the Conwy County Borough Council area. A critical function of this role is participation in the Winter Gritting Rota which requires working unsociable hours including nights and weekends to ensure the roads remain safe and accessible during severe weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repairs on the highway network including pothole filling patching drainage clearance and verge maintenance.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health and Safety regulations traffic management protocols and Council standards.
  • Be available and committed to undertaking scheduled overtime and night working as part of the mandatory Winter Gritting Rota to treat roads and keep them safe during freezing conditions .
  • Operate Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs) safely and proficiently for the application of rock salt and other de-icing agents.
  • Be available at short notice for emergency call-outs outside of normal working hours during the winter period.

Essentials:

  • Full valid UK Driving Licence
  • Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Licence
  • Proven experience working in a highways road maintenance civil engineering or similar manual outdoor environment.
  • Ability to operate light machinery plant and power tools safely and effectively.
  • A working knowledge of Health and Safety procedures relating to manual handling and highway maintenance
