CSE / School of Engineering / Civil and Environmental Engineering

Full time: 35 hours per week

Fixed Term: 28/02/2027 with potential for a further extension subject to funding

We are looking for a research with an engineering or mathematical background and strong communications skills with knowledge around uncertainty quantification in decision making and/or flood management.

The Opportunity:

This Research Associate (RA) position will contribute to the UQ4FM: Uncertainty Quantification for Flood Modellingwithin the Institute for Infrastructure and Environmentat the University of Edinburgh which is funded by EPSRCand in collaboration with colleagues at the University of Bristol and UKCEH.

This role is UE07 and is available on a fixed term basis until 28/02/2027with potential for a further extension subject to funding.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience in hydrodynamic modelling
  • Strong proven ability to communicate with external stakeholders (e.g. engineering or environmental consultants)
  • Advanced statistical analysis ability
  • Experience with machine learning or AI
  • Ability to code e.g. in R or Python
