Our client a nationally recognised law firm with 13 UK offices and over 1000 colleagues is seeking an ambitious Corporate lawyer to join their Sheffield team as a Director or Partner. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a high-performing team of over 70 corporate lawyers working with clients ranging from entrepreneurs and SMEs to financial institutions and FTSE 100 companies.

About the Role

As a Corporate Director or Partner youll play a pivotal role in leading the Sheffield Corporate team contributing to our clients strategic growth while maintaining a high-quality legal practice. Youll work alongside respected leaders who are recognized in the Legal 500 (2025 edition).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the Sheffield Corporate team

  • Driving strategic growth and business development

  • Managing a complex corporate law practice across diverse sectors

  • Handling mergers and acquisitions shareholders agreements and corporate restructurings

  • Developing joint ventures and private equity transactions

  • Nurturing and developing junior talent within the team

  • Building and maintaining relationships with high-profile clients

  • Contributing to the firms national corporate strategy

  • Seamless collaboration across 13 UK office locations

  • Representing the firm at industry events and networking opportunities

What Were Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor with minimum 7 years PQE in corporate law

  • Proven track record of business development and client relationship management

  • Strong experience in mergers and acquisitions corporate restructuring and private equity

  • Ability to lead and develop a high-performing legal team

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a clear vision for team growth

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to diversity inclusion and collaborative working

  • Proven ability to work across multiple sectors and client types

  • Strategic thinking and commercial awareness

Desirable:

  • Existing client following or strong professional network

  • Experience in tech manufacturing or engineering sectors

  • Track record of developing junior lawyers

  • National or international business development experience

  • Expertise in university spin-outs or high-growth businesses
