Job Description

This consistently Outstanding Ofsted Secondary School in Hertfordshire is seeking an engaging Humanities Teacher for a permanent full-time role commencing January 2026.

This well-established school often cited as one of the best state schools in the area offers a rewarding environment with highly motivated pupils. The successful candidate will teach History and/or Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4 fostering an appreciation for academic rigour and critical analyse.

Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging lessons in History and/or Geography (depending on specialism) across KS3 and KS4 inspiring curiosity in the schools able pupil base.
  • Facilitate pupils in developing strong research skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly preparing them for future A-Level study.
  • Contribute to the departments success in achieving excellent academic outcomes and driving high standards of pupil attainment.
  • Organise and lead co-curricular activities such as debate clubs or historical societies.
  • Work collaboratively within the faculty supporting the schools commitment to continuous improvement and excellence.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant degree in History Geography or a combined Humanities subject.
  • Proven experience teaching up to Key Stage 4 (GCSE) with a commitment to rigour and high expectations.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a desire to work with highly motivated pupils.
  • A willingness to support the schools positive high-achieving culture.
