Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) provides skilled nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves circulating and scrub duties across various surgical specialties excluding cardiovascular cases. The RN is responsible for ensuring patient safety maintaining a sterile environment and collaborating with the surgical team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Location:Springfield Illinois United States
Responsibilities:

- Circulating and scrub duties in the operating room.
- Working with service lines including General OR Trauma Neurology Orthopedics Plastics Transplant and Urology.
- Ensuring proper handling and labeling of specimens.
- Administering blood products.
- Monitoring and responding to emergency situations including code response fire safety latex allergy and malignant hyperthermia.
- Maintaining infection control and radiation safety protocols.
- Utilizing electrosurgical units fiber optic light sources/cords and Hana tables.
- Participating in Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure.
- Performing urinary bladder catheterization.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the operating room.
- BLS certification.
- General OR and Trauma experience.
- Level I trauma experience.
- Experience with Bariatric (Laparoscopic assisted cases) General Surgery (Appendectomy Cholecystectomy Colon resection Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical Laparoscopic assisted procedures Mastectomy Thyroidectomy partial/total Whipple) Neurology (Cervical fusion Craniotomy Laminectomy/discectomy Lumbar fusion) Orthopedic (Arthroscopy Carpal Tunnel release Closed reduction of fractures Open reduction of fractures) Plastic Surgery (Free Flap - Microvascular) Transplant (Organ donation) Urology (Cystoscopy Nephrectomy Prostatectomy) and Trauma (Amputations Gunshot/stab wounds MVA (multiple injuries)) cases.
- Emergency management skills including code response fire safety latex allergy and malignant hyperthermia.
- Knowledge of infection control radiation safety specimen handling/labeling and Universal Protocol.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- CNOR or CST certification.
- Cerner charting experience.
Special Considerations:

- On-call requirement: 1 week per month.
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility.
- All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the manager.
- The client may call off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without pay.
Scheduling:
- 4x10-hour shifts.
shift time.
- Weekend requirement: 1 per month.
