Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
An employee hiredto perform skilledlabour in at least onetrade specified by theschool board. This employeeis responsibletoan assignedsupervisor

POSITION : PERMANENT - Twelve-month position
HOURS OF WORK : 7:00 - 15:30 (winter hours may vary) 40 hrs/week
WAGE RATE : As per C.U.P.E Local 4165 Agreement $27.15

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Valid Drivers License
  • On-the-job training in a variety of trades with a minimum of 300 hours of experience
  • Computer skills would be an asset

MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO:

  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Understand keep current and apply guidelines regulations codes and acts from various Ministries and/or enforcing agencies pertaining to the position.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Beself-directed workindependently and/or work collegially in a team environment.
  • Workwith disagreeablesituations and adverse conditions from time to time.
  • Operate maintain and repair avariety of tools andequipment relatedtothespecifiedtrade.
  • Workunderpressure multitask andmeet deadlines.
  • Understandthesafety requirements of workingwith hazardous materials and/or situations.
  • Solve problems related to the job.
  • Read and understand specialized and technical material related to the position.
  • Understand instructions and take direction from the assigned supervisor.
  • Perform thephysical requirements of thejob.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist journeymen in therepair of district buildings grounds equipment andothersystems.
  • May assist in thepurchaseof supplies andservices relatingtotheposition.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of maintenance vehicles such as mowers bobcats tractors etc.
  • Maintain clean service adjust or repair tools andequipment relatedtotheposition.
  • Comply with all codes andregulations relatedto theposition.
  • Perform otherjob-relatedduties
