This Position reports to:
Research Department ManagerAs an intern you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABBs operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.
The work model for the role is onsite/hybrid in Raleigh NC.
Supporting ABB R&D projects and investigations related to electrical mechanical thermal topics and or (generative) AI
Finding and evaluating state-of-the art technology from public sources
Contributing and critiquing new ideas features solutions and evaluation strategies
Helping design draw and model new components and test set-ups
Helping design run and document calculations simulations laboratory tests and experiments
Living ABBs core values of safety and integrity which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD degree program in the US in Electrical/Mechanical/Materials Engineering Physics Computer Science or similar (recent graduates will also be considered)
Specialized coursework and research/project work in at least one of the following: electrical machines design and testing mechanical/thermal modelling mechatronics experimental prototyping and implementation of (generative) AI
Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorshipnow and in the future.
Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
Collaborate with team members to convey ideas share information and provide updates on project progress.

The hourly rate is determined by things such as the successful applicants qualifications graduation year and experience. This position is expected to pay between $20 - $34 per hour.
