The Intergovernmental Coordinator offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your interpersonal analytical and writing skills. The position exists to work closely with MCDOT professionals as well as federal state regional and/or local jurisdictions and other agencies/organizations to coordinate programs and related activities develop intergovernmental agreements negotiate agreement terms and perform a variety of policy-related tasks.

We Require
One year of experience working with political federal local or state government officials or state legislators concerning intergovernmental programs federal-aid highway programs and/or proposed legislation
Bachelors degree in Public Administration Political Science Government Relations Business Planning or a closely related field
Related postgraduate degrees or professional-level experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona drivers license by the time of hire
Job Contributions
Ensure partnership compliance with Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) requirements and the Board of Supervisors approval process and build/maintain strong intergovernmental relationships/partnerships that demonstrate political sensitivity
Coordinate and develop IGAs with MCDOT Project Managers and negotiate agreement terms with outside agencies and municipalities supporting the MCDOT Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and other projects
Crosstrain to support other Intergovernmental Relations Branch programs including Transportation Advisory Board Legislative Affairs Title VI Compliance Intergovernmental Agreements Policies and procedures and SOPs as needed
Ensure County and partner compliance with federal state regional and County requirements
Exercise independent judgment serving as MCDOT liaison to federal state regional and/or local communities and private partners to monitor transportation projects and issues
Customer service - Represent MCDOT at SCHOA & PORA community meetings; follow up on resident issues and requests
Carry out special projects in support of the TIP and other MCDOT programs

Working Conditions
This position is eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period
Exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
