An exciting opportunity exists to join Iwi and Community Partnerships for 12 months and make a real impact on how Police supports Māori Pacific and Ethnic communities. Based at Police National Headquarters (PNHQ) in Wellington the successful candidate will join the Strategy and Support team reporting to the Manager: Strategy & Support.

This role involves supporting the development implementation and monitoring of the New Zealand Polices Māori Pacific and Ethnic strategies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and support the development implementation and reporting of Māori Pacific and Ethnic strategies.
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation to enable culturally responsive practice.
  • Provide clear insightful advice that shapes prevention-focused policy and initiatives.
  • Translate complex information into accessible reports and recommendations.
  • Contribute to lifting cultural capability and equity throughout Police

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in:

  • Strategic policy or strategy development within the public sector.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Project and risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide evidence-based insights.
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand public sector and machinery of government.
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) and experience working with Māori Pacific and Ethnic communities

Utu ā-tau Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $110425 and $117014 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
