The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) part of the College of Science was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. At SBS our research spans various areas including infectious diseases immunology neurodegenerative diseases telomere biology and genome function. Over the years SBS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.
For more details please view are looking for a Research Fellow to lead structural investigations of protein amyloids derived from microalgae biomass. The role will focus on establishing sequencestructure relationships in artificial and functional amyloids using advanced cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for designing and conducting experimental workflows to isolate characterize and structurally resolve amyloid proteins from selected microalgae species.
Formulate devise and improve protocols for cryo-EM grid preparation high-resolution imaging and NMR data acquisition/analysis.
Perform bioinformatic sequence analysis to guide experimental design and correlate protein sequence features with amyloid assembly properties.
Collaborate with PI postdocs and students to integrate structural biology data with biochemical and functional assays.
Prepare manuscripts conference presentations and contribute to grant reporting and project milestones.
Supervise/mentor junior researchers FYP students and graduate students involved in the project.
Maintain high standards of data integrity laboratory safety and research reproducibility.
Job Requirements:
PhD degree in Biochemistry or related field
At least 2 years of relevant experience.
Familiarity with structural biology and protein biochemistry.
Good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in cryo-EM NMR biochemistry protein purification.
Competent in information visualization paper writing conference presentations.
Ability to work independently
