Job Description

About the Role

Focused on supporting children and young people in foster care This role involves overseeing a team of case managers managing referrals and placements and ensuring that foster carers are well-supported compliant and equipped to provide safe and nurturing environments.

You are responsible for maintaining a pool of active caregivers supervising staff and occasionally managing a small caseload. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders including the Department of Families Fairness and Housing to ensure high standards of care and adherence to statutory requirements.

This role also contributes to service development carer training and continuous quality improvement while promoting cultural safety and trauma-informed practice particularly in relation to Aboriginal children and families.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture values and the issues affecting Aboriginal children and families.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related field with relevant experience in child protection or home-based care.
  • Proven leadership and staff supervision experience.
  • Strong casework and assessment skills with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Ability to deliver child-safe practices and uphold compliance standards.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively and represent MacKillops values and objectives.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Drivers Licence
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop)
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check
