SUMMARY:
As a Metro Ontario intern you will have the opportunity to gain a realistic job preview of working in a dynamic fast-paced environment that embraces change and creative thinking. A 12-month internship with Metro Ontario will teach and give you practical skills beyond your classroom understanding. A Supply Chain Intern at Metro Ontario is responsible for supporting the Logistics team in planning and optimizing functions in the supply chain contributing with detailed definition of business requirements design of distribution solutions continuous improvement initiatives and analysis to support business strategies as well as supporting the stores and business services team. This is an exciting opportunity for an intern to support project management and execution of changes to supply chain to improve item availability service levels and reductions in total cost-to-serve. Projects can include distribution center capacity assessment forecasting analytics as well as network optimization. This intern will also provide support to our Automated Orders Demand Store and Business Services departments learning even more about our business by supporting the teams with promotional pricing and store operations inquiries.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:
- Provide data analysis support for new automated and existing operations with focus on productivity improvement
- Perform detailed analysis and research to conduct feasibility studies in support of the development of project business case analysis
- Assist new projects by documenting existing processes and mapping of future ones
- Support the Store and Business Services teams with inquiries and root cause analysis and corrective measures execution
- Provide support to the automated ordering team in activities that ensure smooth daily operations and effective store ordering
- Support Demand team with demand-related tasks and by delivering relevant data and actionable insights
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Industrial Engineering/Supply Chain Management/Business undergraduate student (or equivalent)
- Ability to model operational problems
- Excellent communication interpersonal and presentation skills
- Highly proficient PC skills including MS Excel Access Visio and Project (an asset)
- Self-motivated capable of managing multiple projects and strong data mining skills
- Moderate travelling between Ontarios Distribution Centers is needed and travel between Ontario and Quebec may be required
- Weekend and evening work as required on an occasional basis
- Bilingual (an asset)
