Job Summary
The Field Technician III - Maintenance will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of potable and wastewater projects heavy equipment and scheduling is a role that will collaborate closely with the Project Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time within budget and in accordance with the project scope and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail. OPERATOR CERTIFICATION(S) are desirable.
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision performs general maintenance and repairs of utility systems and public rights of ways
- Operation of vehicles and equipment to include power tools pumps mowers weed trimmers chainsaws etc.
- Review service orders to determine locations where services need to be performed
- Read water meters and enter data in route logs
- Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal State and local rules and regulations
- Inspect meters and connections to determine defects faults and damages
- Repairs and/or replaces broken water mains and service lines
- Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to immediate supervisor
- Operates a company vehicle to conduct meter readings for assigned route
- Connect and disconnect utility services as directed
- Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly and kept updated
- Locate underground utility lines
- Work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety policies
- Wear steel toe protective footwear and other personal protection equipment during regular work hours
- Performs other related duties as directed
Qualifications
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid drivers license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required
- 1-year experience in water distribution maintenance or servicing industry preferred
- Ability and willingness to work independently
- Ability to understand water systems and concepts
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform sustained physical labor including heavy lifting and working above your head and below your feet
- Neat and clean in appearance courteous and friendly with the general public and willing to be a part of a team
- Must be available to work overtime and on-call as needed
