Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Paint Prepper will be responsible for preparing all assigned vessels and parts for the refinishing and reassembly processes and support Lead Painter in producing high quality paint jobs. Our Paint Preppers work in a team environment. Work hours are Monday Friday 7:00am-3:30pm with occasional overtime required and occasional Saturday.

Job Duties:

  • Complete all paint preparation processes for vessels according to company specifications
  • Adhere to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal
  • Remove grease dirt paint or rust from equipment surfaces in preparation for paint application using abrasives solvents brushes blowtorches washing tanks or sandblasters
  • Sand equipment surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats
  • Fill small dents or scratches with body fillers and smooth surfaces to prepare vehicles for painting.
  • Disassemble clean and reassemble sprayers and power equipment using solvents wire brushes and cloths for cleaning duties
  • Follow vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment including maintenance of paint booth and booth filters and maintains a clean and organized workspace
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and coaching from Lead Painter
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience with automobile or aviation painting helpful
  • Working knowledge of hand tools
  • Forklift experience helpful will train
  • Familiar with industrial safety environment and use of common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes welding helmet glasses gloves hearing protection respirators and hard hats (BETA will provide or reimburse)
  • Physical Requirements using hands to handle control or feel objects and tools ability to read written instructions. Able to use respirator. Able to climb bend stoop and reach and lift and/or move materials up to 50 pounds independently
