The Role: Lead III Software Engineering

Position Overview:We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our full-stack development teams and drive innovation in web applications and backend pipeline systems supporting our open data and open metadata portals in support of the S&P Global Enterprise Data Office vision of delivering AI-ready data to our clients and collaborators.

The ideal candidate will embody the principles of servant leadership fostering a collaborative and empowering environment for our technical teams. This role requires a deep understanding of modern software development practices as well as hands-on experience with the latest technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of software developers and quality engineers fostering a culture of collaboration innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the design development and deployment of full-stack web applications and backend pipeline systems.
  • Architect and implement scalable solutions using technologies such as Java (JDK 17) Python (3.13) Angular (18) and TypeScript.
  • Utilize serverless technologies in AWS including Lambda S3 and CloudFront to deliver performant and scalable application capabilities.
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform to streamline deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes timelines and deliverables.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software development including code reviews testing and documentation.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends to ensure the team is equipped with the best tools and practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Promote the use of Resource Description Framework (RDF) for data management and integration where applicable.

What Were Looking For:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on full-stack development and backend systems.
  • Proven experience in Java (JDK 17) Python (3.13) Angular (18) and TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS serverless technologies including Lambda S3 and CloudFront.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Familiarity with RDF and its applications in data management is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with a servant-leader mindset capable of inspiring and motivating teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
