You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThis position reports to the Lead Engineer Process Engineering & Process Safety within the Technical Services group. The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting operations and projects with process engineering support for feasibility studies troubleshooting process operational issues sustaining capital projects and major projects. Additional activities include supporting Management of Change (MOCs) as required and interaction with external and internal customers at various levels and leading/participating in Process Hazard Analysis activities such as HAZOPs.
This position is based in Calgary and may require occasional travel to field sites.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsibility Area #1 Operations
Provide technical support to operations by troubleshooting performance issues and presenting recommendations.
Identify evaluate and select innovative and optimal technologies and solutions to meet customer needs.
Support Management of Change (MOC) debottlenecking and optimization initiatives through technical evaluations modeling and oversight.
Develop and maintain accurate process models for operating assets and assist in development of performance metrics and process engineering KPIs.
Responsibility Area #2 Projects
Identify evaluate and select innovative and optimal technologies and solutions to meet customer needs for both green- and brown-field projects.
Interface with project managers/engineers and internal and external parties to provide process engineering oversight to ensure specifications and standards are met.
Support business development as the process engineering SME.
Provide guidance to meet ATCO internal specifications and standards as it relates to process engineering.
Provide guidance on process equipment sizing.
Responsibility Area #3 Regulatory and Compliance
Ensure compliance with regulations and codes specifically related but not limited to overpressure protection flare and vent systems as well as atmospheric tank emissions.
Monitor and evaluate process system operations and recommend remediation plans as necessary.
Prepare technical deliverables for internal and external stakeholders as required.
Responsibility Area #4 Leadership
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other teams with respect to process engineering.
Ensure alignment with business plan by implementing cost management strategies when providing input to Operations and Sustaining Capital projects.
Provide recommendations to management for process improvement.
Support audits both internal and external across ATCO EnPowers Assets.
Responsibility Area #5 Health and Safety (H&S)
Ensure safety and environmental considerations are incorporated in day-to-day activities and early-stage development projects.
Work with H&S to ensure that ATCO standards and OH&S requirements are met.
Contribute actively to safety meetings.
Participate in corporate Emergency Response Planning exercises.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering is required
Professional Engineer () designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA
5-10 years experience with knowledge of operations in natural gas processing natural gas storage and natural gas liquids storage
Knowledge of hydrogen applications such as generation storage electrolysis and refueling stations are considered an asset
Proficiency in the use of software such as HYSYS is required
Proficiency in dynamic process modelling is considered an asset
Ability to perform duties & responsibilities independently with engagement and initiative
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong cross-functional relationships
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders
Strong computer analytical and problem-solving skills
