Steward of $34 Billion: Driving Fiscal Strategy for NC Medicaid
The NC Medicaid Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position provides fiscal leadership and strategic oversight of an annual budget exceeding $34 billion shaping financial policy for one of the most complex and high-visibility healthcare programs in the state. The CFO serves as the principal advisor on Medicaid and Health Choice financial strategy engaging with the DHHS Secretarys Office Governors Office Legislature Fiscal Research Division federal agencies and provider organizations to ensure fiscal accountability sustainability and transparency.
The CFO directs the development and execution of financial policies fiscal controls and budget frameworks while leading comprehensive forecasting monitoring and reporting processes. Supported by an executive financial management team and a staff of 5075 professionals and contractors the CFO oversees daily operations including budgeting revenue and expenditures audits and contract management. This role requires exceptional leadership advanced financial acumen and the ability to balance regulatory compliance with strategic planning to safeguard North Carolinas Medicaid and Health Choice programs and advance statewide healthcare priorities.
