IB Middle Years Program (MYP) Coordinator (Full Time)

DESCRIPTION: The IB MYP Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping the learning experiences of Secondary students at Awty. This position works closely with school administrators program directors team leaders teachers and assistants to coordinate lead and ensure effective implementation of curricular planning documentation and innovation as it relates to the International Baccalaureates Middle Years Programme. The Coordinator will lead Awty through the adoption application and implementation phases of the MYP for the French and International Programs. This position requires a passionate educator with a deep understanding of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) philosophy. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership organizational and communication skills to lead and support our dedicated team of teachers.

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Spanish Director Proviseure Secondary Division Head Instructional Coaches IB DP Coordinator IB PYP Coordinator Heads of Department
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Five or more years of full-time teaching and/or school leadership experience
  • Experience as a leader or teacher in an IB Middle Years Programme
  • A strong understanding of the IB Middle Years Programme
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant advanced degree
  • Previous experience as an MYP Coordinator
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish
  • International and/or independent school experience
  • Experience with the application and authorization of the MYP Program
  • Experience working with language immersion
  • Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues students and parents
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with faculty to develop and implement a rigorous and engaging emergent curriculum that encourages students to reach academic social and emotional potential in a caring and supportive environment
  • In collaboration with the Head of Division & Deputy Heads organize the schedule of collaborative planning curriculum development meetings and facilitate collaborative planning meetings
  • Support division instructional leadership with the curriculum review cycle and the assessment timeline
  • Collaborate with the Division Head Deputy Head and Program Directors to identify annual professional development priorities and create professional development plans and experiences for the school including MYP/IB training for continuing and new staff
  • Serve as a consultant and provide professional development sessions and instructional coaching for faculty in alignment with the MYP Programme needs
  • Create maintain and update as needed the MYP Curriculum Guide and support the faculty in the articulation of course objectives subject objectives methods and means of assessment through the development of the MYP Program of Inquiry
  • Oversee the quality of MYP Unit Planners ensure that appropriate attention is given to differentiation with the direction of division leadership and ensure that the curriculum in the Middle Years is fully documented and recorded in a curricular database
  • Ensure understanding of MYP practices and oversee the implementation of the published subject-specific assessment criteria
  • Support the Secondary Division in leading and overseeing the grade reporting preparation cycle and process including reviewing report cards and comments ensuring alignment of benchmarks with the units of inquiry
  • Support with the implementation of school-wide assessment including testing reporting and data interpretation
  • Make recommendations to the Division Head Deputy Head and Program Directors for the purchase of suitable resources to support the implementation of the MYP and keep an inventory of resources to facilitate efficient management
  • Ensure field trips are related to the development of a unit content standards performance standards or service learning
  • Provide guidance to Heads of Department
  • Collaborate closely with the Division Head and Deputy Head and the other members of the Secondary School pedagogical leadership team in the evaluation and development of the programme
  • Ensure the coordination and documentation of the MYP curriculum according to the IB Program standards and practices
  • Work with IB DP and IB PYP coordinators to ensure the articulation of the program
  • Liaise with the IB and keep records of all correspondence with IB offices (IBIS)
  • Communicate with the IB regional office regarding program evaluation visits and prepare effectively for any IB visits including meeting all deadlines
  • Keep faculty informed of current MYP developments particularly through providing complete and up-to-date subject publications and access to the My IB site and by sharing the relevant IB publications
  • Gain support for the IB program across the community
  • Meet parents as needed regarding academics innovation and growth
  • Assist in the admission process including working with faculty to review and update admission tests and support in testing and evaluation of applicants in collaboration with the Division Head and the Director of Admissions
  • Participate in admissions-specific events such as Open Houses Info Sessions and tours
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
