Job Description
Group Fitness Instructor Certified Water Fitness Part Time
The Deerfield Park District has a mission to provide outstanding parks services facilities and recreation programs that enrich lives promote healthy living and provide memorable experiences. To support our over 25 parks and facilities we have a dedicated and diverse workforce of over 500 staff seasonally. The Sachs Recreation Center is searching for certifiedGroup Exercise Instructorto develop and teach quality content for water fitness classes. Having the ability to teach a variety of additional formatted classes is a benefit and would consider hiring as a substitute instructor as well.
- Pay Rate: $35.00
Responsibilities:
- The ability to design and instruct a high-quality water fitness class while providing guidance and support for each participant and to challenge members of all ability levels.
- Develop positive relationships with class participants.
- Educate class participants on correct form and alternative moves during class.
- Attentively listen to class participants answer questions and engage in conversation before and after class.
- Music selection for each class should entertain and motivate while ensuring appropriate language.
- Be willing and available to help fellow instructors when subs are needed.
- Clean and organize equipment storage space after each class.
- Promote SRC fitness programs and services while encouraging participation for Group Exercise classes.
- Attending all fitness staff meetings and training.
- Respond to all email and text communications in a timely manner.
Position Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Water Fitness Instructor with at least 1 year of experience teaching
- Ability to perform an aerobic activity for duration of a class.
- Ability to perform exercises specific to the assigned class.
- Ability to communicate and exchange information with guests.
- Ability to perform physical activity which may include but not limited to standing walking reaching with hands and arms climbing or balancing sitting stooping kneeling and crouching.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- Minimum of one of the following Group Exercise Certifications: National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) American Council of Exercise (ACE) American Fitness Aerobic Association (AFAA) Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA)
- We abide by the IL Park District Code in our hiring practices.
Wage Range: $35 - $40 starting pay at the base of range.
