Job Summary

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research and Statistics Section Chief to lead a dynamic team dedicated to advancing data-driven decision-making and research within the Department of Mental Health. This leadership position plays a vital role in supporting program evaluation policy development and strategic planning through the application of rigorous statistical and research methodologies. Key Responsibilities include lead the design implementation and interpretation of statistical analyses and research projects. Oversee data acquisition strategies including sampling methods and procedures to ensure data integrity and representativeness. Apply advanced statistical and research principles to inform agency priorities and support evidence-based policy making. Manage and utilize statistical and data management software to analyze complex datasets. Ensure proper use and maintenance of computers and peripherals used in statistical work. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to communicate findings clearly and effectively. Supervise and mentor research staff; foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.


Knowledge and Skills needed include considerable knowledge of applied statistical methods and procedures considerable knowledge of data acquisition and sampling methods solid understanding of research principles and methodologies proficiency in statistical and data management software (e.g. R SAS SPSS Stata or equivalent) proficient in Microsoft PowerBI strong communication skills both written and verbal tailored to diverse audiences proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams and departments awareness of supervisory principles and practices.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in normal office settings. Some travel to other worksites is required necessitating private means of transportation.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree including or supplemented by nine graduate credits in research statistics or data processing AND one (1) year or more at a professional level in quantitative research statistics or program evaluation.

OR

Bachelors degree including or supplemented by twelve college credits in statistics research or data processing (six of the college credits must be in statistics at the graduate level) AND five (5) years or more at a technical or professional level in quantitative research statistics or program evaluation INCLUDING three (3) or more at a professional level.
