Job Summary

About the Positions

Were seeking CEI Inspector Is who will provide Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the state of Georgia. This position may support higher level inspectors and engineers on assignments relating to highway and bridge construction inspection. Work is generally performed under technical and administrative supervision and may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Training materials will be provided to obtain the required certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Will perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract.
  • Will perform moderately complex inspections or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections.
  • Work includes inspecting asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading rolling depth alignment and compaction; roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications; structural materials and members; placement of culverts; structural operations such as foundation excavation; placement of piling reinforcing and structural steel concrete and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices.
  • May also perform a more complex variety of calculations and computations.
  • Will perform contract documentation duties which include field measurements of pay items as well as other Department required documentation.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1.5 years experience working as a CEI Inspector.
  • Considerable knowledge of materials methods and equipment used in highway construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions including geometry.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
  • Ability to read interpret and explain such things as construction plans contract provisions specifications and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.
  • Ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
  • Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
  • Proficiency with computers (e.g. Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Outlook internet etc.)

Required Certifications

Please Note: For titles containing GDOT certifications or passing scores on Engineering Skills Development Tests certifications and passing scores must be obtained within six (6) months of beginning work on the GDOT project. Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted.

  • GDOT WECS.
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
  • GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
  • Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 1 (General Provisions Auxiliary Items Basic Highway Math Basic Highway Plan Reading).
  • Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 2 (Pavements Bases Subbases Minor Drainage Structures Construction Erosion Control).

Compensation Details

The salary range listed for this role is $52k-$62k/year ($25-$30/hour). The final salary offered will be based on multiple factors and thoughtfully aligned with each candidates level of experience breadth of skills total education achieved certifications/licenses that have been obtained etc.
