Job Description

Blocks Detection Operations Team safeguards our financial ecosystem by enforcing compliance standards and managing risk across our platform. The team is responsible for enforcing Blocks Terms of Service and ensuring adherence to payment network and financial partner requirements through due diligence reviews of high-risk businesses. Working across multiple platforms including Slack Salesforce and other internal systems the team responds to and resolves critical escalations from partners vendors and internal teams while mitigating regulatory exposure and protecting Blocks financial interests.

As a Detection Operations Analyst you will drive compliance excellence across Blocks ecosystem by investigating and assessing high-risk scenarios and detecting transaction this critical role youll make decisions that protect Blocks integrity while also supporting legitimate business growth.

You Will:

  • Conduct Due Diligence reviews on high risk merchant account populations including merchants that sell CBD/Hemp Products.
  • Work highly visible cases that are sensitive in nature and respond to merchants regarding surcharging concerns prohibited products etc.
  • Demonstrate ability to review and analyze cases and investigate accounts to determine patterns activity and decision making.
  • Stay up to date on local state and federal agency (DEAFDA) regulations regarding Hemp derived CBD and comprehend how these regulations can affect our merchants.
  • Liaise with Merchant Network and Compliance Team on topics related to restricted and prohibited merchants identified by both Squares network and banking partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal Customer Success Account Management and Sales to ensure compliance with local state and federal laws regulations and our terms of service.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance help to develop corrective action plans and support CBD Compliance Lead in their implementation.
  • Complete work within procedural guidance and apply procedures in a variety of account scenarios with the ability to interpret procedures for more complex scenarios.
  • Effectively manage time utilize resources and complete assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Resolve escalations from customer facing teams regarding CBD merchant accounts.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 5 years experience in BSA/AML/KYC Fraud or Compliance related work preferably in the fintech payments space.
  • Basic knowledge of the payment network rules and regulations.
  • Investigative skills including familiarity with public record research and database tools.
  • Transaction analysis skills that apply across numerous financial products in complex scenarios.
  • Adept ability to communicate both verbally and written with employees at multiple levels.
  • CAMS CFE or other related certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Compliance QA/QC preferred but not required.

  • Open to working typical business hours preferably in either Mountain or Pacific time zones.
