Position Summary
The Clinical Trials Assistant is responsible for overall operational activities in support of Phase I Phase III clinical trials in a central laboratory setting. Works closely with internal and external project managers to ensure continuity and execution of study requirements. May assist with study setup collection of investigator information and specification details upon study startup. Properly stores retrieves and ships biospecimen to domestic and international sites. Responsible for troubleshooting and communicating issues to site support personnel or internal systems personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receives sample shipments accessions orders and properly handles samples being referred or internally tested.
- Ensures proper storage of biospecimen retrieves and ships to domestic and international sites. Assists project managers in obtaining site and investigator information.
- Prioritizes work assignments to meet expected project deliverables.
- Provides primary contact with the study coordinator and/or Investigator to assess site requirements (mailing address emergency phone number supply needs and training material)
- Load study and investigator information into database.
- Liaises with global and domestic partners in providing highest level of service.
- Communicates delays in supplies or testing with investigator sites.
- Provide general information about SRLs clinical trial services including education of automatic re-supply and collection kits.
- Liaise with study sites/monitors to resolve holds communicate result alerts provides trial support information.
- Tracks supply orders and communicates with couriers for point of delivery when required.
- Attends all assigned study meetings along with the project manager and completes actions items pertaining to study requirements.
- Responsible for monitoring workflow to make sure contacts are actioned on hourly basis.
Education and Experience:
Education:
- Minimum: Associates with 4 plus years experience
- Preferred: Bachelors degree in a biological science (BS/BA)
Experience:
- Experience working in a clinical laboratory pre-analytical department customer service or as a laboratory technician
- Experience working with clinical research protocols and/or biobanking
- Experience with LIMS systems and specimen handling in a CAP CLIA or other accredited organization
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency with exceptional attention to detail
- Flexibility in a team setting and able to interact professionally at all times with colleagues and clients
- High degree of integrity as it relates to following SOPs organizational policies and execution
- Knowledgeable of clinical testing laboratory processes customer service support biobanking shipping and receiving
- Adept at troubleshooting LIS systems and communicating complex issues
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
