Job Summary

As an Associate in the Rates Trading team you will work in a dynamic and busy trading floor environment helping traders cover institutional accounts and make markets in a range of fixed income products. You will assist in managing risk liquidity and exposure and support all aspects of the trading desk including pre-trade analysis research trade processing and strategy design. You will be empowered to develop your market expertise and contribute to the teams success.

Job Responsibilities

  • Understand market drivers and stay on top of market moves developing cross-asset insights
  • Independently resolve P&L reconciliation issues
  • Ensure all relevant parties are informed of key developments
  • Provide solution-based frameworks to business practices and clients
  • Take initiative to improve processes and outcomes
  • Balance revenue generation with building a client franchise
  • Communicate market drivers effectively to clients
  • Develop and execute trading strategies
  • Follow firm policies for risk management and regulatory compliance
  • Build trust with clients by understanding and responding to their needs
  • Assist with post-trade processes ensuring accuracy and internal controls

Required Qualifications Capabilities and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Rates or FX Trading
  • Detailed understanding of P&L calculation and reconciliation
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental and technical aspects of traded products and support functions
  • Proficiency with market and product terminology including quantitative frameworks (e.g. pricing models)
  • Knowledge of direct costs throughout the transaction lifecycle
  • Understanding of different types of risk and risk management strategies
  • Ability to explain and anticipate market movements
  • Execution-oriented with a thorough understanding of the transaction cycle
  • Ability to perform under competitive pressures while focusing on client needs; comfortable interacting with business clients and management
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences

Preferred Qualifications Capabilities and Skills

  • Experience developing and implementing trading strategies
  • Familiarity with cross-asset implications and multi-product trading
  • Advanced quantitative skills and experience with trading models
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Experience in a global trading environment
  • Demonstrated ability to share knowledge and mentor team members
  • Open to potentially moving to a different financial hub in the future
