What is the Opportunity
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
The Draftsperson will report directly to the Project Manager. This role will be responsible for preparing detailed fabrication drawings 3D models and drafting plans to support tooling inspection and construction activities. The Draftsperson requires strong technical skills collaboration with project teams and clients and the ability to solve field-related challenges in a fast-paced environment.
What Youll Do Here:
- Prepare fabrication drawings quantitycalculations3D models for application in Machine Control applications.
- Report on and participate in continuous improvement of key metrics.
- Prepare drafting plans.
- Provide drafting support for tooling fabrication templates and inspection.
- Provide clear communication with client in a professional manner.
- Liaises with design partners trades supervision and project team members.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
- Problem-solve as-built conditions and contribute to solutions with the project team.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from NAIT (or another accredited post-secondary institution) OR Post-secondary education in design field Civil/Mechanical Engineering orArchitectural program.
- Proficient in Autodesk Suite (Inventor Fusion AutoCAD).
- Knowledge and experience with piping systems structural systems and fabrication drafting
- 5 - 7 years experience in Drafting/Engineering Design role.
- Knowledge and experience in Fabrication/Heavy Civil construction and methodology.
- Ability to interpret field data and rough sketches in a fast pace setting.
- Exceptional attention to detail specifically pertaining to completeness and accuracy of drawings.
- Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word Excel).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
- Proven organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a high-pressure work environment.
- Ability to work in Shop/Field conditions.
- Self-motivatedabilitytolearn newskills assume newresponsibilitiesand workcooperativelyin a team environment.
- Excellentsafetyandattendancerecord and previously demonstratedstrongsafetyawareness.
