Join our tight-knit team of Surgical Services at St. Francis Regional Medical Center!
This position is typically scheduled for day and evening shifts Monday through Friday but will feature a weekend and holiday call rotation.
Shifts will be scheduled for 8-hours but can be flexed to 10- or 12-hour shifts pending leadership approval.
64 hours every 2 weeks- 0.8 FTE

Surgical Technology

Link: Description:

Participates in providing care to patients undergoing surgical intervention including identifying assembling and facilitating use of surgical instruments equipment and supplies to assist the surgical team. Tasks are supervised by Registered Nurse and delegated by the surgeon. May also perform in the sterile processing function as needed. Will eventually be required to take call after orientation.

Principle Responsibilities

Participates as a surgical team member
- Prepares the OR and sets up for procedures.
- Identifies supplies instruments and equipment needed.
- Maintains safe environment for patient and other staff using electrical equipment and instruments correctly.
- Follows aseptic technique standards of practice.
- Complies with regulatory requirements for point of use care of instruments.
- Handles medications and specimens following policies/procedures.
Assists the physician in the scrub role during surgical procedures
- Maintains a sterile field.
- Anticipates needs for instruments equipment and other supplies.
- Performs sponge sharps and other counts accurately.
- Accounts for all instruments and items on the field.
- Communicates to physician and circulator when needs arise during the surgical intervention.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Associates or Vocational degree graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program

Preferred Qualifications

1 year of Surgical Technologist experience

Licenses/Certifications

Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:
Certified Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 1 year of hire
Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) Certification within 1 year of hire
Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Medium Work:
Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $35.59 to $47.37 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to your experience education and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
