Your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Set up and operate welding and cutting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret weld procedures work orders and technical drawings to meet specifications.
- Apply knowledge of metals and alloys including stainless and carbon steels.
- Prepare fit and finish parts to customer specifications including pipe pressure vessels and structural components.
- Perform pump component repairs including defect excavation weld build-up and overlay.
- Plan and execute work operations independently based on weld procedures and job requirements.
- Maintains a safe neat and orderly workstation
- Maintains welding equipment as required to keep machines in good operating condition and maintains welding supplies and consumables in appropriate storage environment per specifications
- Assists in the disassembly inspection and re-assembly of pump equipment when required
- Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow transitions between team members.
- Support and assist coworkers including training and collaboration.
- Supports cooperates with and participates in company-wide safety program which includes
- following all safety policies and procedures.
- Supports and cooperates in Sulzer Nuclear Quality Program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Works overtime as requested.
- Operates forklifts overhead cranes man lifts and scissor lifts.
To succeed in this role you will need:
- Completion of a welding apprenticeship program or equivalent training preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in welding cutting and fabricating metal and alloy components.
- Proficiency in GTAW SMAW and FCAW welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and apply knowledge of welding equipment and filler materials.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment weld performance qualification to ASME Section IX standards using GTAW in the 6G position.
- Ability to produce welds that meet nondestructive testing standards including VT MT PT RT and UT.
