Job Summary

The role

At Vessev were building a new era of transport on water. Our vessels fly above the surface using advanced hydrofoils and fully electric propulsion systems. A critical part of making this possible is the electrical systems that power control and protect the entire vessel.

Were looking for an Electrical Systems Intern to join our team. This is a hands-on role where youll contribute directly to testing validation and integration of the systems that bring our boats to life. Youll be right in the middle of development helping to turn concepts into reliable high-performance hardware.

Internships like this dont come around often. This is a full-time fixed-term position for 400 hours paid at $30 per hour.

What youll work on

As an Electrical Systems Intern youll support the design and validation of safe reliable and efficient onboard systems. Your day-to-day could include:

  • Hands-on testing: Assisting with validation of power systems battery modules and control systems in both lab and on-water environments.

  • Data collection & analysis: Using sensors and logging tools to capture performance data then helping interpret results to identify improvements.

  • System integration support: Helping integrate electrical systems into vessels working closely with mechanical and software teams to ensure everything functions together.

  • Pre-production harness & assembly work: Supporting the build of wiring harnesses test rigs and early-stage system assemblies to gain practical hands-on experience.

  • Continuous improvement: Suggesting and trialling new approaches to improve efficiency reduce complexity or enhance system reliability.


What youll learn

During your internship youll gain:

  • Real-world experience in electrical system testing and validation.

  • Exposure to high-voltage power systems battery management and control systems.

  • Skills in CAD data acquisition troubleshooting and system integration

  • Mentorship from engineers who have worked on everything from Americas Cup boats to rocket systems.


Requirements

At Vessev were looking for exceptional interns who are eager to take on real engineering challenges. You dont need to meet every single requirement to apply but we do expect drive curiosity and the ability to contribute meaningfully from day one.

You dont need to be a marine or EV expert. What matters most is curiosity problem-solving skills and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Working towards (or recently completed) a degree in Electrical Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering.

  • Strong foundation in power systems electrical circuits and control systems.

  • Experience with testing validation or integration of electrical systems through coursework personal projects or internships.

  • Ability to read interpret and contribute to schematics wiring diagrams and technical documentation.


Bonus experience

  • Exposure to high-voltage or high-power electrical systems ideally in EVs robotics or aerospace.

  • Knowledge of batteries and battery management systems (BMS).

  • Knowledge of embedded systems microcontrollers or PLC-based control.

  • Familiarity with electric propulsion and/or actuators

  • Skills in data analysis and automation using Python or similar.

  • Hands-on experience working with marine aerospace or automotive electrical systems.
