Job Summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a dynamic accounting professional with strong accounting and managerial experience to be the Director - Accounting & Financial Reporting (Accounting & Financial Reporting Director). In this role you will be responsible for the Financial Reporting General Accounting Civil Services Group (CSG) billing of responsibility include technical accounting general accounting operations internal and external reporting and customer join Aerospace! We are looking for a team player with a positive attitude who can go the extra mile!

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time on-site at our facility in El Segundo CA.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Lead the strategic direction of three departments General Accounting Financial Reporting and CSG Billing. Oversee the financial close processes financial reporting activities tax compliance and billing operations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation of the annual corporate and benefit plan financial statements; and related support binder. Manage financial statements draft review/edit process with external auditors.
  • Track all new accounting pronouncements research and assess the applicability and/or financial impact and make recommendations to the Controller about the necessary changes to implement.
  • Lead accounting projects pertaining to new accounting codifications including coordinating changes to corporate and benefit plans financial statement disclosures; and/or accounting policy changes. Partner with Controller to communicate changes to external auditors.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally for benefit plan changes affecting the corporate and benefit plans financial statement disclosures.
  • Lead strategic direction for staffing / hiring in area of responsibility
  • Monitor corporate cash flow / funding.
  • Develop and implement internal controls policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with CAS FAR and contractual requirements.
  • Respond to external audit requests.

What You Need to be Successful - Accounting & Financial Reporting Director

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Business Finance or a related field.
  • A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
  • At least five years of experience managing accounting teams.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and organizational levels.
  • Expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) complemented by a strong understanding of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Experience preparing financial statements.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g SAP; Oracle).
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • MBA or advanced degree in Accounting Business Finance or a related field.
  • Experience with SAP S/4 HANA.
  • Knowledge of employee benefit plans accounting and principles of actuarial concepts.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge and skills.
