Job Summary
The school is seeking an inspirational Music Teacher for a permanent full-time role at an Outstanding secondary school in West Yorkshire commencing in January 2026. This position involves teaching academic Music across Key Stages 3 and 4 with significant responsibility for A-Level performance and theory.
The school is dedicated to developing creative excellence and requires a proactive musician to co-ordinate and expand its extensive ensemble programme.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging and rigorous academic Music lessons up to and including A-Level.
- Lead and manage a range of ensembles (e.g. choir orchestra jazz band) and co-ordinate annual school concerts and productions.
- Develop students practical musicianship technical theory and historical analyse of musical genres.
- Track student progress meticulously providing precise feedback to accelerate learning and maximise performance standards.
- Utilise the schools high-quality practice rooms and performance spaces effectively.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant degree specialism in Music.
- Proven experience teaching academic Music to A-Level standard.
- Strong piano skills are desirable along with experience leading large ensembles.
- Excellent organisational skills for managing complex rehearsal and performance schedules.
- A commitment to promoting the performing arts across the wider school community.
