Science Technician - Battersea Wandsworth

Essential Support Role: Experienced Science Technician Needed in Battersea!

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Science Technician to provide vital support to a busy and successful Science department at a secondary school in the desirable Battersea area of Wandsworth. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and safe running of practical science lessons.

The Vitals: What Youll Be Doing

This full-time support role involves preparing and maintaining equipment and resources for practical lessons across Biology Chemistry and Physics ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for students up to A-Level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation & Setup: Prepare apparatus solutions and materials for both routine and advanced practical lessons adhering strictly to teachers requests and the timetable.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Ensure the Science laboratories prep rooms and equipment are maintained clean and safe. This includes conducting essential checks minor repairs and ensuring compliance with CLEAPSS guidance.
  • Stock Management: Manage inventory of chemicals and equipment placing orders and handling deliveries efficiently.
  • In-Class Support: Provide in-class technical assistance to teachers and students during complex practicals demonstrating the safe use of equipment as required.

Candidate Profile: What Were Looking For

To be considered for this position candidates must already have established experience in a school environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven recent experience working as a Science Technician within a secondary school or college is essential for this role.
  • Knowledge: Strong practical knowledge across the three core sciences (Biology Chemistry and Physics).
  • Safety Certification: A thorough understanding of Health and Safety procedures in a laboratory setting (e.g. COSHH).
  • Skills: Excellent organisational skills a meticulous approach to detail and a proactive work ethic.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with both students and teaching staff.
