Key Responsibilities & Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional teacher and academic leader with a strong degree in English Literature or Language holding QTS and possessing a proven track record of successful departmental leadership and outstanding A-Level results.
As Head of English you will be expected to:
- Strategic Vision: Develop and articulate an ambitious vision for the English curriculum overseeing curriculum design and delivery from KS3 through to A-Level ensuring literary breadth and analytical depth.
- Team Leadership: Effectively lead mentor and performance-manage the English faculty fostering a collaborative culture focused on pedagogical excellence and intellectual curiosity.
- Attainment & Accountability: Use data effectively to drive teaching quality and student progress ensuring outstanding outcomes in all GCSE and A-Level examinations.
- Literary Enrichment: Oversee and expand the co-curricular programme including debating public speaking and literary societies to enrich the cultural life of the school.
- Whole-School Contribution: Serve as a key link to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) contributing to broader school strategy and promoting literacy across the curriculum.
