Job Summary

Abington Friends School is an ambitious Quaker school community with a powerful academic program for children age 3 through grade 12. Essential Functions

Independently and as part of a team performs a variety of maintenance activities (i.e. plumbing electrical and HVAC).

Operates various electric gas and manually powered tools and equipment i.e. saws air compressors blowers drills etc.
Performs regular preventive maintenance and makes repairs within the scope of abilities.
Assists with building maintenance and repairs as required.
Performs cleanup and worksite restoration activities.
Performs grounds maintenance activities including snow removal
Responds to and takes appropriate actions in the event of emergency or critical incidents to resolve confine or prevent potentially injurious or hazardous conditions.
Requests supplies as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is preferred as is relevant work experience.
Demonstrated expert proficiency in one of the skilled trades
Ability to operate standard maintenance-related equipment.
Ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Ability to discern which people may need immediate assistance and to act accordingly.
Valid drivers license.
Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment.
Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours to support special school events.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work including climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching and crawling lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds; may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as strong odors fumes dusts wetness humidity machinery vibrations temperature and noise extremes disease pathogenic substances and toxic/poisonous agents.
